FAQ & Answers to all sorts of Questions!

1)      How much does it cost to bowl? Depends on what day and what time. Click here for the answers on this.

2)      What time is free bowling? There is no free bowling, it's referred to as open bowling. There is open bowling anytime that we do not have leagues or are preparing for leagues. Click here for Hours of Operation. Always call for availability, 749-3300.

3)      What time do you open? Everyday at 10:00am typically.

4)      Do you do birthday parties? Yes, click here for details.

5)      Can we get a lane with bumpers? Yes, depending on the age that intends to use them and if we have them available. Of the 12 lanes, only 8 have bumpers. Lanes 7-10 do not have bumpers.

6)  Can I wear my street shoes bowling? Absolutely NO! Nor do we prefer that you walk up on the lanes with them on. Dirt and rocks embedded in the treads of the shoes can fall out and cause damage to the approaches from other people bowling and sliding into this. Not to mention the possibility of injury from falling.

7)  Must I remove my street shoes (during winter or very wet weather) at the rope? YES! Water and bowling do not mix! If your shoes have water on them, it WILL get on the carpet! If someone bowling walks into it and then bowls, it is likely he will stick and fall. All wet shoes need to be removed away from the bowling areas where bowlers will be! All long pants legs that are wet must be rolled up also. This is all for the safety of the bowler.

8)  Can I go outside with me bowling shoes on? Absolutely NOT! For all the reasons above, plus the damage that can occur to the bowling shoes.

9)  Can I use the light balls (6-8 pounds)? Well this depends on who you are. These light balls are for our very young bowlers, usually 4-10 years old, but really depends on the strength of the bowler. Because they are light it is perceived that you can throw it harder ending in better resultsÂ…this is not the case! Remember this, your bowling ball is impacting about 36 pounds of pins (1st ball shooting at ten pins), light balls donÂ’t knock down as many pins! We have 9 pound bowling balls out on the racks for use and this is the lightest that we ask adults (that need a lighter ball) use. Use the heaviest ball you are most comfortable with for the best scoring results!

10)  Can I bring food and drink into the bowling center? NO.

11)  Can I go get that stuck ball halfway down the lane? NO, please come to the front desk and get someone to help you. Do not cross the foul line under any circumstances! The lane conditioner (oil, as it is referred to as) is very slick and walking into it will almost always cause a fall! Always ask someone at the desk for help with any problem.

12)  Why can't I loft the ball? Lofting the ball (launching it down the lane) causes damage to the lane, usually unnecessary damage. There is no real reason to loft the ball unless there is no oil in the heads (front part of the lane). This is usually not an issue at Hi-Lanes. Lofting the ball past the arrows is a definite no-no and if caught you will be warned. Continuation of this kind of lofting and you may be asked to leave. The lane surface past the arrows is much softer than the heads (part before the arrows) and lofting the ball into this area will cause damage to the lane and surface. Please do not loft bowling balls!
